Luifer/Luis is a dance/singer-songwriter and a multitalent artist, who was born in Venezuela , with a family background of musicians. Luis was influenced by his father who was a very popular young singer in the country of Venezuela. Luis started in the music when he was very young studying at the Jose Angel Lama's superior music school in Caracas , Venezuela when he was 10 years old. Luis fuses multiple musical styles such as Flamenco, pop, Latin pop, trova, tango, country and salsa.
In 1995 Luis participated in the OTI international festival (Version Canada ) as a singer-songwriter. Luis also participate in many other Latin festivals in Toronto, Canada and many different kind of Flamenco and Latin events in Vancouver and other parts of Canada. Aside from composing and singing, he plays the Flamenco guitar, Cajón Flamenco and he is one of the main Salsa dancer and performer in the city of Vancouver .
In 1995 Luis "Luifer" discover his new passion for Flamenco music at Kino Café and in 1996 with the well known local Flamenco guitarist Pedro Mole, Luis started performing with Peter Mole and his Flamenco troupe in the city of Vancouver , Canada .
As a singer, dancer, guitar player and most recently as a percussionist, Luis have being performing with Peter Mole, Poema Flamenco, Jhon Guilliat, Xarabanda band , Ballarta band, Alma Libre, Juan de Marias, Gerardo Alcala, Tambura Rasa, and many others.
In the Salsa world, Luis is teaching his own personal style, which he calls 'Romantic Salsa'. Luis has been dancing Salsa and other Latin dances for over 20 years and has taught it since 1995 in the Vancouver Area, spreading his style in clubs worldwide. Luis has developed his personal dance style by traveling and dancing around the world.
Aside of his artistic side, Luis received his bachelors in computer science in 1992 and in the year 2000 attained a degree in outdoor recreation management at Capilano Collage and in 2009 finished his training at BCIT as a motorcycle technician.
Luis performs his talents on a regular basis at various restaurants, clubs, weddings and theaters around Vancouver . Luis currently performs and teaches at several locations around Vancouver Area and he has appeared in TV programs, movies, newspapers and big shows on several occasions. As a Salsa instructor Luifer always provides his students with a memorable and unique experience but he also recommends that everyone visit the various locations where Salsa dance instruction is offered and inquire about the different instructors. You will find that each will have a personalized method of teaching and dancing, so you must choose the one that best suits your style. Luis is one of the best known and preferred instructors in Vancouver ; all you have to do is just ask around.

Zouk
The world "Zouk" is coming from the Antillean Creole and means "party" or "festival" and today is referred to name a music and dance style very popular originating from the Caribbean Islands of Guadalupe and Martinique. The music if highly influenced by many different genres like cadence-rampa, calypso, compas, reggae, salsa, brazilian, and more recently RnB. Basically the music is based in singing and electronic or studio music, but with the influence of new artists and the dynamism of today's music we can see changes in the new styles.
The original dance is based in mazurka, a Polish dance introduced to the French Caribbean islands in the 19th Century.
There are many styles of zouk dancing, like Caribbean zouk, zouk-lambada, zouk-love, compas-love, Afro-zouk, Brazilian-zouk.
I bet you that soon you will be asked on the dance floor, "What style you dance????" LA-Zouk Style or NY-Zouk in 2??? Vancouver Style?????................. but for now just lets dance Zouk.
